Prof. Dr. Mohammad Tayub Chowdhury born in a renowned family of Sultanpur, Raozan, in December,1967. His grandfather was Jamindar Shah Ahmed Chowdhury. His father late Yar Mohammad Chowdhury was a businessman, started his timber and construction business in Rangamati at early 1960s. Prof. Chowdhury passed his childhood in Rangamati and passed SSC from there. Later he passed HSC from Chittagong College, Honors in Management and Masters in Marketing from Chittagong University with 1st Class 2nd and 1st position respectively. He has completed his 2nd Masters in Global Management and Development from Antwerp University, Belgium with Distinction. DG Tayub completed his PhD from Chittagong University in 2015.
Professor Tayub joined in Rotary movement in the year 1988 as a Rotaractor, a charter member of Rotaract Club of Chittagong Downtown. He served the same club as Secretary and President in the year 1992-93 and 1993-94 respectively. After serving Rotaract District as Zonal Representative and District Joint Secretary, he served the District-3280, Bangladesh as DRR in the year 1997-98. Prof. Tayub becomes a Rotarian in February, 2002 as Charter President of Rotary Club of Chittagong Sagorika. He has served Rotary district with various position as like as Assistant Governor, Deputy Governor, Zonal Coordinator, Additional District Secretary, Governor’s Special Aide, Assistant Trainer etc. He worked as Sgt at Arms, Deputy Chief Sgt at Arms, reportier, speaker and moderator at different district events.
Beside Rotary Prof. Chowdhury involved with many other social and philanthropic organization. He is the life member of Chittagong Ma O Shishu Hospital, Chittagong Diabetic Hospital, Chittagong Kidney Foundation, and Bangladesh National Society for Blinds (BNSB), Family Planning Association of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, and Rangamati Riffle Club. Rtn. Tayub is the Civil Service member of Chittagong Club Limited, Founder Chairman of Rangamati Club Limited, and Founder Secretary General of Chittagong University Marketing Alumni Association, Executive Committee member of Chittagong Kidney Foundation.
Prof. Tayub has visited more than 20 nations including USA, Canada, Japan and UK. Attended various Rotary events as like as RI convention, Presidential Conference, Rotasia etc. He has presented papers in different national and international academic seminars and conferences. More than 20 research articles of Prof. Chowdhury have been published in national and international journals. He was a member of GSE team and visited Rotary District-5960, USA in April, 1998.
DG Tayub is happily married with Farjana Hoq Rupsha. His spouse Rupsha has been graduated with honors in Economics and also has post-graduation in Economics. She is working in a English Medium School in Chittagong. They are blessed with a daughter Ruaida binte Chowdhury and a son Mohammad Tajbik Chowdhury.
