Brief Introduction

Rtn. Faiza Qamar (First Woman Rotary District Governor – RI District 3272) is a member of Rotary Club of Islamabad Margalla since 1997. Born on 31st October at Faisalabad in a highly educated and respectable family. Her father, was an agriculturalist by profession, graduated from Agricultural University Faisalabad, a PHD in Botany from Syracuse University also a renowned Barrister, became a Vice Chairman of Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan. Rtn. Faiza Qamar did her graduation from Government College, Faisalabad and later on received her professional diplomas from John Jay College, New Orleans, USA and Steneir Beauty School, London, UK in Aesthetics/ Skin care. Rtn. Faiza is a successful entrepreneur and has earned rich experience in managing multiple businesses in the fields of property management and Aesthetics.

Rtn. Faiza belongs to a complete Rotary family. She is happily married to Rtn. Qamar Zaman, a senior Rotarian and a Scientist having specialized in radiation protection technology. Rtn. Qamar was awarded the Tamgha-e-Baqa by the Government of Pakistan in recognition of his services.

Rtn. Faiza and Qamar Zaman are blessed with two sons and two daughters. Their eldest son Taimoor is a past president of Rotaract Club of Islamabad Metropoliton. MSc. in Energy, Trade and Finance from London School of Economics, a strategy manager for leading renewable energy organizations in the uk. Their daughter, Seemal a fine Rotarian in the making, MSc. in Information Systems from University of Surrey, a programmar analyst by profession, with an interest of technology in healthcare. Their younger daughter, Nafal, is currently studying in CEU Valencia, Spain to become a Veterinerian Surgeon. Their youngest, Sachal, is a student of Bachelors in Biology from Dalhousie, Halifax, Canada, and wants to pursue Medical School.

Participation in Rotary Activities:

Club Services
– Proposed and sponsored more than 50 Rotarians into the Rotary folds.
– Addressed/attended several Rotary Club meetings all over the country and abroad.
– Arranged several fellowship/ Intercity meetings at club and district level.

Youth Service:
– Served as District 3270 Rotaract Chair 2002 -03 and 2003-04
– Attended all the Rotaract Conferences and events held since 2000.

Vocational & Community Services:
– Established Qura’an House at Bhara Kahu.
– Supported and worked for the rehabilitation of Flood survivors, built shelters, provided ration, household items and health care, established vocational training centers in Swat and Nowshehra.
– Established camps for IDPs in Mardan and Swat and provided food, clothing, tents, medical aid, and monitory support.
– Worked for the rehabilitation of 2005 Earthquake survivors. Rotary International recognized her
services by awarding her with the highest award ‘Service above Self’.
– Established an industrial home in Pindi Ghaib.
– Sponsored free education for 10 children at Bright Future School Faisalabad.
– Supporting an Industrial Home for Ladies and a Health centre in District Gujrat.

– Organized several Medical camps at Islamabad Muzaffarabad and Gujrat.
– Organized Free Legal Aid Centre for women and children .

International Service:
– Husband and wife are both Paul Harris fellows.
– Visited Rotary Club of Buffalo, New Orleans, Middlesex, Rochestor, Luton, New Delhi, Jaipur and Noida.
– Actively participated and hosted G.S.E teams especially from Germany, Holland 2000, Brazil
South Korea.
– Hosted Family Exchange Teams from Jaipur, Delhi NCR, Mayur, Vihar and Noida City.
– Facilitated a number of foreign dignitaries including 2006-07 RI President Bill Boyd.
– Coordinated several international Rotary teams from various countries during the Earthquake Relief Efforts during 2005-06.
